WHAT: Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting of La Esperanza Mexican Take out

WHEN: Saturday, September 6th 1:00pm  – 4:00pm

WHERE: 401 N Rodney St, Wilmington, DE 19805

La Esperanza Mexican Takeout will offer a vibrant menu highlighting Mexican culture and history. Additionally, La Esperanza will be working with a fellow Launcher Entrepreneurship Program graduate and local artist, David A. Jones III of JonzuApparel, to complete an exterior mural at La Esperanza restaurant. The Launcher Entrepreneurship Program aims to build wealth within the community by providing education and resources to low-income, minority communities in need of economic revitalization, based out of West End Neighborhood House. Her oldest daughter, Bricia Jaime-Alarcon is also a Launcher Alumni growing her family's business.

The colorful mural will pay tribute to Mexican culture, with an emphasis on Temimilcingo, Morelos, and the legacy of Emiliano Zapata. Its vibrant design blends tradition and symbolism, compositionally guiding viewers toward the restaurant entrance and inviting them in for a bite of culture.

With the support of the City of Wilmington via America Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, Cornerstone West CDC is excited to celebrate the growth and expansion of this immigrant-owned, family business. The West Side Small Business Innovation Fund awarded La Esperanza Restaurant, along with 38 locally owned small businesses, with funding up to $10,000 for expenses related to interior & exterior repairs, facade improvements, and new equipment or upgrades. This fund aimed to support our local business community that was negatively impacted by COVID-19. These improvements have made a positive impact on the West Side Small Business community and we look forward to the continued economic growth of our local businesses. Additionally, this new business will fill a formerly vacant corner property, and this new business builds on the catalytic development of Solomon's Court Phase I and 4th Street & Rodney playground, and Be Ready CDC - all located on the same intersection at the heart of the West Side.
